Lincoln Cathedral hosts a special concert featuring Sir Karl’s For the Fallen to mark the 80th anniversary of Operation Chastise, better known as the Dambusters Raid.
On Saturday 13 May, the Band of the Royal Air Force College performed a musical programme with pieces from the WWII era to present day, highlighting Lincolnshire’s strong aviation history as the original home of the RAF 617 Squadron.
Sir Karl joined the concert to conduct For the Fallen alongside Lincoln Cathedral Choir.
Lincoln Cathedral’s Director of Music, Aric Prentice said “We were delighted to take part in this superb concert. The chance for us to work with the Band of the Royal Air Force College and Sir Karl Jenkins was wonderful for us at the cathedral”.
The concert held special significance for Sir Karl as his uncle, Alfryn Jenkins, lost his life as captain of a Lancaster bomber over Berlin in 1944.
